Born and raised in Waikiki, Hawaii Shea has definitely had her trials and tribulations as an up and coming professional surfer. Growing up she learned to live life by the beat of her own drum (if you knew her dad there's your answer). Dropping out of school at 17, living on the streets of Honolulu as a homeless punk rocker Shea still clung on by a thread to what life as a women's competitive surfer there was left.
"Moving to San Francisco, CA. was the best thing in my life" Shea said "especially at 17" the city opened her eyes to life in a real city with foggy, cold barrels and mountains of concrete and people- this shifted her perspective on surfing completely. With the waves being so fickle up there you have to hunt a bunch. Road trips and traveling as long as my pocket allows is how you fill in the flat spells.
With her life experiences and trials and tribulations Shea is an inspiration to young females fighting hard daily to live their dreams and make a difference in the world.
Shea's goal is to travel the world surfing as many cities, states and countries she can in order to push the limits and abilities of women's performance surfing. With the help of her photographer and videographer- Lizzy Coghill they will capture and share women's free surfing in the raw while in turn opening up a platform for women's free surfing for our future female surfers.
